Recover a Litecoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash or Tron Wallet

Lost a seed phrase for Litecoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, or Tron? They're all BIP39 — recovered the same way, just with different addresses. Here's how.

Bitcoin and Ethereum get all the attention, but the same recovery applies to a long list of other coins — because they share the same seed-phrase standard. If you've lost part of a Litecoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, or Tron phrase, you already know how to fix it.

The homepage tool derives all of these chains, in your browser.

They're all BIP39

Litecoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, and Tron wallets generate the same 12- or 24-word BIP39 phrases as Bitcoin. That means:

You recover the words the same way. The only per-coin differences are how those words turn into an address.

What differs per coin

CoinPath (coin type)Address looks like
Litecoin (Native SegWit)m/84'/2'/0'/0/iltc1…
Litecoin (Legacy)m/44'/2'/0'/0/iL…
Dogecoinm/44'/3'/0'/0/iD…
Bitcoin Cashm/44'/145'/0'/0/ibitcoincash:q…
Tron (TRX)m/44'/195'/0'/0/iT…

Same seed, different branch of the key tree and a different address encoding. (For the why, see derivation paths explained.)

How to recover

  1. Open the recovery tool and pick your phrase length.
  2. Enter the words you know; leave unknown slots blank (enable fuzzy matching for typos).
  3. Paste a receive address for your coin. The tool auto-detects the chain from the address — ltc1…, D…, T…, bitcoincash:…, and so on — and confirms the exact phrase.
  4. Run it. You'll get a confirmed match, or the list of valid candidates to try.

Because one BIP39 phrase can hold many coins at once, you can also paste any chain's address you remember — the tool will find the phrase and you can then read off the others.

"Empty wallet" after recovery?

The usual culprits, in order:

  1. Wrong address format (e.g. Litecoin ltc1… vs legacy L…).
  2. Wrong account index.
  3. A passphrase you set at creation.

A correct phrase often just needs the right view.

Stay safe

  • Recover offline where possible; the tool needs no connection.
  • Never share your phrase or use a tool that transmits it. See recovery scams.
  • Move funds to a fresh wallet after recovering on an online device.
